Managing Webhook Endpoints

Overview

The webhook endpoint detail page provides a comprehensive view of all webhook requests received for a specific endpoint. From this page, you can view request history, replay requests, generate test webhooks, edit requests before replaying, and manage your endpoint settings.

To access a webhook endpoint's detail page, click on any endpoint from the Hooks dashboard.

Renaming Hooks

You can rename a webhook endpoint at any time to better reflect its purpose or organization. To rename an endpoint:

  1. Navigate to the endpoint's detail page
  2. Click on the endpoint name at the top of the page
  3. Enter the new name
  4. Press Enter or click outside the input to save

The endpoint name is for your reference only and doesn't affect the webhook URL or functionality.

Deleting Hooks

To delete a webhook endpoint:

  1. Navigate to the endpoint's detail page
  2. Click the Delete button (usually in the top-right area)
  3. Confirm the deletion in the dialog

⚠️ Warning: This action cannot be undone

Deleting an endpoint will permanently remove it and all associated request history. Any webhooks sent to this endpoint's URL will no longer be received.

Viewing Requests

The request list shows all webhooks received for this endpoint, displayed in reverse chronological order (newest first). Each request shows:

  • The HTTP method (GET, POST, etc.)
  • The timestamp when the request was received
  • The response status code from your forwarding URL (if applicable)
  • A preview of the request body

Click on any request to view its full details, including headers, body, and response information.

The request list automatically updates every few seconds to show new webhooks as they arrive.

Replaying Requests

Replaying a request sends the exact same webhook to your forwarding URL again. This is useful for:

  • Testing your webhook handler after fixing a bug
  • Reprocessing a failed webhook
  • Debugging webhook processing logic

To replay a request:

  1. Open the request detail view by clicking on a request
  2. Click the Replay button
  3. The webhook will be sent to your forwarding URL immediately

Replayed requests appear as new entries in the request list, so you can see the result of the replay.

Editing & Replaying Requests

You can modify a webhook's body or headers before replaying it. This is useful for:

  • Testing different payload values
  • Simulating different event types
  • Debugging edge cases in your handler

To edit and replay a request:

  1. Open the request detail view
  2. Click the Edit & Replay button
  3. Modify the request body (JSON) or headers in the dialog
  4. Click Replay to send the modified webhook

The modified request will be sent to your forwarding URL and appear as a new entry in the request list.

Generating Test Webhooks

You can generate test webhooks directly from the endpoint detail page. This allows you to test your webhook handler without waiting for real events from your webhook provider.

There are two ways to generate test webhooks:

Quick Test

Click the Send Test Request button in the setup instructions section. This sends a simple test payload:

{
  "message": "testing from skooh.io!"
}

Custom Test

Click the Send Test button in the requests section header. This opens a dialog where you can enter a custom JSON payload:

{
  "event": "test.event",
  "data": {
    "custom": "value",
    "timestamp": "2024-01-01T00:00:00Z"
  }
}

Enter any valid JSON payload to test your handler with different data structures.

Test webhooks appear in the request list just like real webhooks, so you can verify they were received and processed correctly.

Deleting Requests

You can delete individual requests from the request history. This is useful for cleaning up test requests or removing sensitive data from your history.

To delete a request:

  1. Open the request detail view
  2. Click the Delete button
  3. Confirm the deletion in the dialog

Note: Deleting a request removes it from your history but doesn't affect any processing that already occurred when the webhook was originally received.
