Getting Started with Skooh: A Step-by-Step Guide
Connect your first webhook in 5 minutes. No coding required—just point, click, and connect.
What You'll Need
- A Skooh account (sign up free)
- A computer on the network where you want to receive webhooks
- A SaaS tool that sends webhooks (Stripe, Shopify, GitHub, etc.)
Step 1: Create Your Skooh Account
- Go to skooh.io/sign-up
- Enter your email and create a password
- Verify your email
You now have a Skooh account with your first API key ready to go.
Step 2: Create a Webhook Endpoint
- Go to Hooks in the dashboard
- Click Create Endpoint
- Give it a name (e.g., "Stripe Webhooks" or "Shopify Orders")
- Click Create
You'll see your unique webhook URL, something like: `https://api.skooh.io/hook/abc123xyz\`
Copy this URL—you'll need it in Step 4.
Step 3: Install the Skooh App
Download the Skooh Desktop App for your operating system:
Or, if you prefer Docker, see our Docker guide.
Once installed:
- Open the Skooh app
- Enter your API Key (found in Settings)
- Enter your Hook Token (the last part of your webhook URL, e.g., `abc123xyz`)
- Enter your Forward URL (where webhooks should go on your network, e.g., `http://localhost:8080/webhooks\`)
- Click Connect
The app will show "Connected" when ready.
Step 4: Configure Your SaaS Tool
Go to your SaaS tool (Stripe, Shopify, etc.) and find the webhook settings. Every tool is slightly different, but you're looking for:
- Webhooks in settings
- Notifications or Integrations
- Developer settings
Enter your Skooh webhook URL as the destination. Select which events you want to receive.
Tip: Check the tool's official documentation for exact steps—they update their UIs frequently.
Step 5: Test It!
Most SaaS tools have a "Send Test Webhook" button. Click it!
You should see:
- The webhook appear in your Skooh dashboard
- The Skooh app show the incoming webhook
- The webhook arrive at your internal service
Troubleshooting
Webhook not appearing in dashboard?
- Make sure you saved the webhook URL in your SaaS tool
- Check that you selected at least one event type
Webhook in dashboard but not forwarding?
- Make sure the Skooh app shows "Connected"
- Check that your Forward URL is correct and the service is running
Need to re-test?
- Click Replay on any webhook in the dashboard to send it again
You're Done!
That's it! Webhooks from your SaaS tools now flow through Skooh to your internal systems—no firewall changes, no VPN, no hassle.
